After months of contemplating, I’ve finally done it. I’ve started a blog. Mostly because I’ve reached the point where I either document what’s going on in my life or risk boring my friends senseless with updates about compost, marathon training and whether I think I can fix things myself after watching youtube and searching on ChatGPT!
A little under a year ago I was made redundant, at the time it was terrifying but it has become one of the best things that could have happened to me. I uprooted myself and moved to the New Forest at the end of last year. This place has completely changed my pace of my life – in the best way! I am still far too good at saying yes to plans so I am filling my time with having friends and family to stay, going on long runs, open water swims, joining a cricket team, house projects, garden renovations and going to see lots of live music.
This blog is going to be a bit of everything:
- training for marathon number four
- the highs and lows of attempting DIY
- garden progress (and mishaps!)
- life in the New Forest
- random thoughts from long runs
- cold water swimming adventures
- and whatever else feels worth writing about.
I’m definitely not an expert in any of these things – although I do now own enough tools to look mildly convincing.
Mostly I just wanted somewhere to document this stage of my life as it happens. A little corner of the internet for muddy trainers, ongoing projects and stories worth remembering.
Anyway, welcome to Notes from the New Forest.
